Birds breeding on our land in Alentejo

Our land is a haven for wildlife. Everything we do to steward the land is with wild animals being our first priority. Since 2022 when we moved in, we have seen a lot : mammals, amphibians, reptiles, insects, spiders… and obviously birds. More than 120 species already! Some birds are here only for the winter, some are migrating and only passing through, and some are breeding species, whether they are resident species, meaning they are here all year long, or migrating species coming from further south and coming only for the breeding season. This is the beauty of bird watching, there is always something to see.

So to understand our land better, we have decided to make a list of the bird species that are actually within the perimeter of our land. Thus, we can see which species consider the habitat good enough to nest. Here it is:

We believe there are many more species breeding on our land, but this list only includes the ones for which we actually have a proof of their breeding.
